On Friday afternoon, December 4th, around twenty police officers burst into a building in northern Morocco where a Bible training seminar was being held. Twelve local Christians were participating in the meeting along with five foreigners. The Moroccans, all former Muslims, were arrested and interrogated until late in the night before being released.
The foreign Christians were expelled from the country, accused of proselytizing, which is not correct since all the participants were already Christians.
One other foreigner, who wasn’t present but who had participated in the organization of the training, was also expelled with his whole family. They were given only one hour to pack their suitcases. Then, under police escort, they picked up their children at school and were conducted to the border. The police said such a meeting, which was to last the weekend, was “forbidden.” The building had been rented. During the police operation, all the Bibles were confiscated as well as Christian materials and mobile telephones.
